Rubber Removal |
 |
|
Airports throughout the world are plagued by the inevitable build up of rubber which is deposited from the tyres of landing aircraft. The level of deposit and the speed of build up varies depending upon factors such as frequency of landings and impact force which in itself depends upon the landing approach angle as dictated by the geography.
Today high pressure water is used to remove rubber from some of the worlds busiest airports. These deposits are potentially lethal particularly during periods of heavy rain and must be regularly removed. Where equipment is used it can incorporate continuous recovery of debris, which in today’s environmentally conscious climate is proving to be a standard specification.
OSPREY provides an economical and environmentally sensitive way of rejuvenating the frictional co-efficient without causing damage to the surface.

 |
Applications
Rubber removal at up to 2000m² per hour.
Line and marking removal.
Apron cleaning.
Oil and fuel oil spill recovery.
Cleaning of maintenance areas.
Surface and foul water drain cleaning.
Local area de-icing.
In disaster situations the Osprey is capable of powering a range of water tools such as disc cutters, cutting and separating ‘Jaws of Life’, and surface penetrating mist lances for fire suppression.
Suitable for ‘PFC’ runways.

Simple Operation
The forward speed of the cleaning vehicle can be accurately controlled through a simple mechanical reduction gearbox from 0.3 km/h up to the full road speed of the vehicle.
Machine settings can be altered quickly and accurately by changing jet nozzle sizes or by altering the rate of flow by pass to the water tank via a pneumatic control in the driver’s cab.
All principal operations are carried out from within the driver’s cab.
Fast evacuation from the runway due to cab mounted controls.

Environmentally Sensitive
All water and debris is collected in an on-board tank.
Stand alone water recycling system available.

 |
 |
Method Of Operation
The equipment directs high pressure water at pressures from 500 bar to 2500 bar at the surface. A powerful pneumatic conveyor is used to recover debris and water from under a unique protective shroud which is collected in the on board debris tank.
By utilising spinning jets, a varying flow and pressure and a variety of jet angles all the deposits can be removed with no danger of damaging or ‘polishing’ the underlying material.
Work rates of up to 2000m² per hour may be achieved depending on runway construction.
For further information and a detailed specification please contact our sales department with details such as location, construction of runway, frequency of cleaning and preferred basic specification i.e. truck or trailer mounted debris recovery, or non-suction.
